Complications from Impacted Wisdom Teeth

Your wisdom teeth generally make an appearance sometime in your late teens and early twenties. For some people this causes no issues at all, but for others the wisdom teeth may not be straight, or they can get blocked by other teeth so they can’t fully come through. If this happens, you may be required to undergo a procedure to have your wisdom teeth removed.

The first indication of a problem with your wisdom teeth is often pain in the form of a dull ache or a sharper stabbing pain as the teeth press on nerves, surrounding teeth or begin to erupt through the surface of the gums. A partially erupted wisdom tooth is a common cause of pain and discomfort, and if the teeth are not coming in completely straight, they can start to come through your gum but then get stuck.
